A Message from our Foundation Board Chair
The residents and staff at Passamaquoddy Lodge are indebted to you for your generosity and support; without which our Lodge community would not be the exemplary residential nursing home it is today. Our dedicated team of professionals provides the highest quality care for residents, and we appreciate that this is made possible by your ongoing patronage.
Throughout the Lodge’s 50 plus year history, we have relied on the community to pay for those necessary services and needs not paid for by the government stipend. Last year, your remarkable donations paid for two much needed Broda chairs, these chairs help reduce the risk of muscle contraction and pressure sores for our less mobile residents; a soft serve ice cream machine, a delight to residents and their visitors; and two, very sophisticated heated/refrigerated tray food delivery carts. The carts, just now coming into service, deliver food heated or cooled to the correct temperature ensuring the utmost in food safety standard, as well as allowing more flexible dining experience for the residents.
Furthermore, one Lodge resident and her husband have provided an endowment, which will be used to educate our staff and volunteers in up to date technology and geriatric care philosophy. A second generous resident and her husband have also set up an endowment fund to benefit the Lodge and its residents; both endowments will be appreciated well into the future.
As you know, we have big plans for building a new Lodge in the near future, but we need your help now to ensure that we fulfill our mandate today for our elder community. Residents, their families and staff have told us we need at least two more Broda chairs, medical grade Bladder scanner and EKG machines, Courtyard garden refurbishment, and would very much love a pizza oven in our current facility for a total of $60K.

Resident Wellbeing Purchases Planned for this Campaign
Whether your gift is large or modest, we are truly grateful for your support. The following is a list of items, identified by the residents, their families or staff that is critically needed. While essential to the wellbeing of the residents, none of these items are given financial consideration by government.
Broda Chairs
These chairs are essential for the health and comfort of many of our less mobile residents. Broda chairs help reduce the risk of muscle contraction and pressure sores. Families seeing the benefits of two purchased last year, are requesting more residents be considered as beneficiaries.
Bladder Scanner and EKG (electrocardiogram)
If both of these diagnostic tools were on site, it would facilitate prompt diagnosis and treatment, and save our residents needless visits to the hospital’s emergency department (ER). These ambulance trips heightens the level of confusion of residents suffering from dementia and can result in extra hours, even days in the ER while the resident waits for an ambulance to be free to transfer them back to the Lodge.
Courtyard Garden Refurbishment
Our beautiful courtyard garden is aging. The water display needs immediate repair and a number of the garden plants are well past their prime and need replacing. The garden is a favourite space for summer BBQs and visits with family and friends. This special garden needs to be restored to its former glory.
Pizza Oven
This is a fun ask by our residents. They would love the joy of being served a homemade pizza made right on the premises. Pizza could be a monthly item on the Lodge’s luncheon menu and would be an exciting option to be served at celebrations.

Your support can be directed in two impactful ways. Donate to the Lodge Foundation General Program to fund enrichment programs that bring joy and engagement to our residents.
Alternatively, contribute to the New Lodge Project, our ambitious plan to construct a new facility that will better serve our community’s needs. Both avenues of giving are crucial to our mission and deeply appreciated.
